Privacy Policy

Last updated: 5 August 2026

The short version: Whack-A-Woke has no accounts, no logins, and no advertising or analytics trackers. We don’t sell your data — ever. Your game progress is stored on your own device, not on our servers. We only ever see personal information if you choose to donate or email us.

Who this covers

This policy explains how whackawoke.com (“Whack-A-Woke”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you play the game or visit the site. Questions about any of it: [email protected].

What we do not do

Information stored on your own device

The game saves your progress — the level you’re on, your score, coins, settings, and any nickname you type — using your browser’s local storage. This stays on your device. We cannot read it remotely, and clearing your browser data will erase it (including your progress, so be aware).

Donations

Donations are processed by Stripe, a certified payment provider. When you donate, Stripe collects your name, email address, and payment details in order to take the payment and email you a receipt. We never receive or store your full card details.

We do see the email address and amount associated with a gift, so we can recognise supporters, answer questions, and handle cancellations or refunds. Stripe’s own handling of your data is covered by the Stripe Privacy Policy.

If you set up a monthly gift, Stripe keeps a customer record so it can charge the same card each month. You can update or cancel that at any time from our manage your gift page — no account needed.

The in-game “Coach” helper

The game includes an AI helper. When you type a question to Coach, that question (and the nickname you set, if any) is sent to Anthropic’s Claude API to generate the answer. Please don’t type sensitive personal information into it. We don’t keep a log of your questions, and Anthropic’s handling is governed by their own privacy terms.

Leaderboards and multiplayer

If you take part in leaderboard or multiplayer features, the nickname and score you choose to submit are stored in a Google Firebase database so they can be shown to other players. Please pick a nickname you’re comfortable being public — don’t use your full name.

Server logs and security

Like virtually every website, our host records standard web-server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps). These are used for security, abuse prevention, and diagnosing faults — not for profiling you. The site is served through Cloudflare, which also processes this traffic data to protect against attacks and speed up delivery.

Cookies

We don’t set advertising or tracking cookies. Stripe and Cloudflare may set strictly functional cookies needed to process a payment securely or to protect the site from abuse.

Children

Whack-A-Woke is designed to be family-friendly, and we welcome younger players. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Donations are for adults only. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we’ll delete it.

Your rights

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask us to delete it. Email [email protected] and we’ll respond. Because we hold so little to begin with, this is usually a quick conversation. Note that Stripe must retain donation records for tax and anti-fraud purposes even after we delete our copy.

Changes

If this policy changes we’ll update the date at the top. Material changes affecting donors will also be emailed to affected supporters where we can.
