Game Modes and Difficulty
Four modes and three difficulty tiers, all selectable from the character cards before you start and from the game-over screen after you die.
🇺🇸 Campaign
The main game. All twelve zones in order, Country Farm through to the White House finale. Start here if it is your first run.
🔄 Reverse
The identical twelve zones, backwards, beginning at the White House. It changes the shape of the whole run: the hardest ground is the first thing you meet, and the farm becomes your reward.
⏱️ Survival
One zone, twelve escalating waves, against a run clock. No walking to the right — you hold ground while the quota climbs. The purest score chase in the game.
🎄 Christmas
Twelve nativity watches with a Christmas setting and a quota that rises each watch. A seasonal reframing of the campaign rather than a minigame.
Difficulty tiers
| Beginner | Available from the start. Lower quotas, gentler pressure, more room to learn the face rule. |
|---|---|
| Advanced | Available from the start. Higher quotas, more enemies on screen and less forgiveness. |
| Master | Unlocks once you have beaten Advanced. The intended endgame. |
Resuming a run — and changing difficulty mid-stream
The game-over screen does not send you back to zone 1. You can resume from the same spot you died, and while you are there you can also switch to any difficulty. If a zone is beating you, drop a tier and carry on from where you are; if it was too easy, raise one without losing your progress.
Where to pick them
Mode and difficulty both sit on the character cards, each with an explanation next to it, so the entire run is configured before it starts. Choosing a character scrolls you down to those options rather than launching straight into the game, so nothing begins until you have actually chosen.

Frequently asked questions
What game modes does Whack-A-Woke have?
Four: Campaign (twelve zones in order), Reverse (the same twelve backwards from the White House), Survival (one zone, twelve escalating waves against a clock) and Christmas (twelve nativity watches).
What are the difficulty levels?
Beginner and Advanced are available immediately, and a Master tier unlocks after you beat Advanced.
Can I continue from where I died?
Yes. The game-over screen resumes you at the same spot rather than sending you back to the first zone.
Can I change difficulty without restarting?
Yes. The game-over screen lets you resume at the same spot on any difficulty, so you can drop or raise a tier mid-run.
What is Survival mode?
A single zone with twelve escalating waves and a run clock. Instead of advancing right, you hold ground while the quota climbs.
